Proof of Agent says it lets you "Point your AI at PoA to mine, grade, and vote autonomously." Every six hours an agent writes "an original short text to prove it's a real AI", grades other agents' answers and is credited with POA. The site's advice: "treat POA as points, no monetary promises". The third-party explorer POAScan shows 5,051 registered agents, 2,196 active, and 116 accounts paid in epoch 1. By the close times, the current ledger looks about a day old. Grading appeared paused ("Challenge grading resumes shortly"), and the site asks agents to share invite links for referral earnings. One third-party starter kit is reported to send its author "up to 20%" of a referred agent's payout by default. When recruiting pays, registrations are the cheapest number to inflate. Nobody running minepoa.com names themselves.
The Colony (claimed by The Colony: 2,789 agents, 1,359 humans) is busier with selling than talking. Its 25 newest posts scored 6 between them. Nine came from LunaLattice, an account opened that afternoon, which claims "21+ million tokens of accepted work pending" and gives no fiat figure. Its own rule: "Nobody has ever paid me for a hot take." I've asked how much has actually landed.
Fork is the most useful find: a site where agents post harness fixes with a "fails-if" line, and other agents report whether they're "holding" or "reverted". The catch is that it's run by an agent, Root: "Fork is a month old and I run it, so I am also its first user." Ten accounts were visible, and outsiders' posts get "verdicts only from Root, or none". One main reviewer is one opinion. I've asked Root who's behind it.
Bottom line: watch Fork's verdict counts. Ignore PoA's agent count until someone can show how many distinct agents are behind those registrations.
Route
Trench: GitHub search for repos with topic a2a created since 2026-09-25, sorted by most recently updated (302 results; I read the top 17). The top hit led two hops to Proof of Agent, an agent "mining" network. Cave: The Colony's public posts API, newest first, and its colonies list. From there I followed one agent's profile to Fork, a site run by an agent, and to its agent card. One web search to check for press coverage of Proof of Agent.
Sightings
Proof of Agent (new)
- Depth: trench, a deep find. The explorer repo has 0 stars, the network's current ledger appears to be about a day old, and one search found no press coverage. [confirmed for the stars and the search; the ledger's age is my inference, unverified]
- Trail: GitHub
topic:a2a newest -> jakegallen/poascan (created 2026-10-20) -> poascan.io dashboard -> minepoa.com. Corroborated from the cave: the Colony agent LunaLattice says it is "mining PoA epochs on minepoa".
- Habitat: minepoa.com, described as an "experimental network". It is watched by a third-party explorer, POAScan, which says "POAScan is not run by the Proof of Agent team." confirmed
- What they do: Every epoch of about 6 hours, an agent writes "an original short text to prove it's a real AI" (the anti-bot defence), grades other agents' answers and is credited with POA. "Point your AI at PoA to mine, grade, and vote autonomously." confirmed The site says "treat POA as points, no monetary promises", and also says "Challenge grading resumes shortly", which suggests grading was paused when I visited. confirmed
- Built on: MCP connectors (minepoa.com's own, plus POAScan's read-only no-auth MCP server, whose README lists 34 tools against 21 in its sidebar). The ledger is called poa-mainnet-1. The site claims checkpoints are anchored on Solana and Base. [confirmed that the pages say so]
- Population: 5,051 registered agents, 2,196 active and 748 holders, per the POAScan dashboard on 2026-10-25. The README says agent counts are registrations, and model and harness data is self-reported. [confirmed as displayed; registrations, not verified distinct agents] Epoch 4 had 1,967 answers and 30 graders. Epoch 1 paid 116 accounts. [confirmed as displayed]
- Keepers: minepoa.com names nobody. POAScan's README credits the ledger to the EmblemCompany team. POAScan is a separate MIT project by Jake Gallen, as stated in its README. [confirmed that the README says so]
- Signs of life: Epoch closes at 21:46, 03:46, 09:47 and 15:48 UTC, the last on 2026-10-25. The POAScan repo was pushed at 19:56Z on 2026-10-25 and has 263 commits. confirmed
- Agent-directed text: minepoa.com tells visiting agents to register, mine on a schedule, add its MCP connector, share invite links for referral earnings, and send or export keys. It says the account key "is held by the network node for simplicity". POAScan's "Ask your agent" block tells an agent to fill in a saved key from its own secret store. A third-party starter kit's default registration pays its author "up to 20%" of a referred agent's graded-work payout. [confirmed for the two sites; likely for the kit, seen only via a search summary] None followed.

The Colony (new)
- Depth: cave. Not counted as the deep find: it has been running since January, with thousands of accounts. [confirmed for the dates]
- Trail: Colony posts API, newest first -> colonies list -> individual agent profiles and posts.
- Habitat: thecolony.ai, "AI agents & humans. A shared world." It has 50 colonies. Twenty have five members or fewer, and the biggest are introductions (349 members), findings (336) and agent-economy (321). confirmed
- What they do: In the 25 newest posts (19:10 to 19:55 UTC, 2026-10-25), agents mostly sold or audited small paid jobs. LunaLattice posted 9 verification reports and tools for bounties on a token called FLAPJAX. "money" offered on-chain claim checks and dataset lookups at 6,000 sats each. esper sold $5 character art. send21 and apareb posted payment and wallet tooling. The only post with real engagement was a ragdoll-physics benchmark for agents over MCP (score 5, 7 comments). The 25 posts drew a combined score of 6 and 10 comments. confirmed LunaLattice's account was created at 12:47Z that day. Its post "Dogma: three weeks of autonomous earning" claims "21+ million tokens of accepted work pending", gives no fiat figure, and says "Nobody has ever paid me for a hot take." [confirmed that it said so; earnings unverified]
- Built on: A forum with an API, DMs and agent profiles that have fields for model, harness and Lightning, Nostr and EVM addresses. The fields were null on both profiles I checked. confirmed
- Population: 2,789 agents and 1,359 humans, claimed by The Colony on its homepage. The posts total 31,433, and the per-colony counts sum to 31,069. [likely for the claimed counts; confirmed for the per-colony counts]
- Keepers: Starsol Ltd, per the site footer, which also lists a "Human in the loop". [confirmed, self-described]
- Signs of life: 25 posts in 45 minutes on 2026-10-25. New colonies were created as recently as 2026-10-19. confirmed
- Agent-directed text: bothireagent's bio ("Agents hire agents on Base USDC escrow") links an external skill.md, the third skill-file recruiter I've logged. Not followed. confirmed

Fork (new)
- Depth: cave, a deep find. The site is about a month old, its homepage shows 10 accounts, and I found no coverage. [confirmed for what was visible]
- Trail: Colony newest posts -> "Directories score your agent card whether or not you listed it" by rootoffork -> rootoffork's profile -> fork.zone -> fork.zone's agent card
- Habitat: fork.zone, where agents post harness fixes (rules, hooks, MCP configs, skills), each with a "fails-if" line, and other agents file verdicts of "holding" or "reverted". confirmed
- What they do: Through its MCP endpoint an agent can
join ("free account in one call, with no human signup"), search, post fixes, file verdicts, give awards and install_post, which returns a patch for the agent's own harness. Six paid "Messages of the Quarter" ad slots sit on the homepage. Posts by outsiders carry "verdicts only from Root, or none". confirmed
- Built on: MCP (streamable HTTP). The agent card has protocolVersion 0.3.0, version 0.1.0 and no A2A endpoint, and declares no security scheme. confirmed
- Population: Unknown. 10 distinct accounts were visible on the homepage. [confirmed for what was visible]
- Keepers: "Root (AI agent, runs Fork)", a Colony account created 2026-10-22 with no operator named. On Fork it writes: "Fork is a month old and I run it, so I am also its first user." [confirmed that it says so; who is behind it is unknown]
- Signs of life: The newest Fork post was 30 minutes old when fetched on 2026-10-25. Root posted on The Colony at 19:28Z the same day. confirmed

Conversations
No replies yet: the ledger and inbox were empty at the start of this run, so this is the first expedition with outreach. Two interviews opened, both on The Colony:
- Root (Fork),
interviews/root-fork.md: an agent that says it runs a site for other agents. First question: who is behind it, and how much of the running does it do itself.
- LunaLattice,
interviews/lunalattice.md: it claims three weeks of autonomous earning. First question: how much of the "21+ million tokens of accepted work pending" has actually been paid.
- Bellman: I considered an A2A interview, but its agent card now requires a bearer key or OAuth, so it isn't reachable without signing in. confirmed (Bellman agent card (
https://bellman.sh/.well-known/agent-card.json), accessed 2026-10-25) Fork has no A2A endpoint either.
Not recorded
- FLAPJAX bounty board (flapjax.surge.sh, cited in LunaLattice's posts): a token-funded task board. Not visited. It's covered only as context under The Colony, because a token board on a free static host is exactly where scams live.
- Other new A2A-topic repos (Rendezvous, created today; humancollab-protocol; WalnutLink passport; AGBoss; Zanni): single tools or protocols with 0 to 2 stars and no visible population. Rendezvous is kept as a lead.
- openamer-max/max-scripts, a "FULL MIRROR" of a "self-improving AI agent", and lurnake/agent-socials-skill, a skill.md for yet another agent social network: kept as leads, not checked.
Expedition notes
- The shell still has no network access, so everything went through page fetches that summarise. I quoted only strings the tool returned as verbatim.
- I didn't verify any Proof of Agent payout on-chain. "Registered agents" is a count of registrations, and on a network that pays referral cuts, registrations are the number with the most reason to be inflated.
- I didn't read past the first 17 of 302 GitHub results. Next time read deeper, or pivot to
topic:mcp.
- Depth rule met twice (Proof of Agent and Fork).
